Event description

Carl Orff's thunderous masterpiece comes alive in an explosive celebration of fate, fortune, and the human experience. This iconic work unites orchestra, choir, and soloists in a performance where "O Fortuna" has never sounded more magnificent.

Chiswick School once again hosts this incredible production, bringing together an impressive collaboration of musicians to stage Orff's dramatic work;Chiswick Voices, Chiswick Community Choir, West London Free School, Fulham Boys' School Year 7 Choir and Hounslow Symphony Orchestra.

Orff employs the recurring theme "O Fortuna" to remind audiences that fortune's wheel rotates unceasingly—one day bringing joy, the next devastation. His music powerfully conveys this eternal truth through raw, primal energy. Many will recognize "O Fortuna" as the unforgettable soundtrack to Old Spice aftershave commercials.

Opening the evening, pianist Krzysztof Moskalewicz performs Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1. Moskalewicz released his debut album in 2022, featuring Chopin's complete Ballades alongside "Four Postcards," new compositions by Chinese composer Sun Keting.
