Great River Race

As part of the Totally Thames Festival the Great River Race will be run upstream from London Docklands to Ham.  The gruelling 21 mile course attracts over 330 crews from all over the globe.   The race appeals to every level of competitor from dedicated athletes to those who enjoy fun, fancy dress and charity stunts.  It’s a great day out for both competitors and spectators.

Come down to Chiswick Pier to watch the Great River Race on Saturday 21st September.  The race begins at Docklands at approximately 13.15 on a “slowest first, fastest last” handicap basis. The first boats should be passing Chiswick Pier around 15.30 and continue to come through for at least an hour.

Chiswick Pier is a wonderful vantage point for spectators with excellent views of a long stretch of the river.  Coffee Bike will be serving hot drinks as usual from 8am and Chiswick Pier Trust will be serving cakes,  cold drinks and wine and beer outside the Pier House from 14.00. 

• You will be outdoors - so wear suitable clothing.

• No charge - but refreshments must be paid for.

• Toilets are available in The Pier House

• Parking is free in Pumping Station Road

• E3 bus terminus within 10 minutes walk

• Easy access for wheel chairs.

• You will be served cake and a variety of drinks to choose from: Hot drinks, cold drinks, wine and beer.
