Watermans is temporarily closed. It closed on 11 April 2024, ahead of its planned move to a new building. For nearly 40 years, Watermans has been West London’s arts centre. Until it opens its new building Watermans will focus on its programme of outdoor performances at Bell Square and the delivery of activities for Creative People and Places Hounslow. Watermans' mission is to bring communities together through cultural practice and to enrich lives through the arts and creativity. As an independent charity, Watermans believes the arts is for everyone and that is at the heart of everything we do.
Since 1984, Watermans presented a thriving year-round programme of cinema, fringe theatre, exhibitions and workshops at its stunning riverside location in Brentford, opposite Kew Gardens. Watermans has a wide outreach programme across Hounslow and beyond too, reaching tens of thousands of people who would otherwise enjoy little or no arts provision, and working with them to build community through the arts.
Our new Brentford venue venue will include two cinema screens, a theatre, a contemporary art gallery and creative spaces for the community.
Bell Square, is our outdoor arts venue in Hounslow Town Centre, where we present fortnightly free performances May to November. The major Arts Council-funded Creative People and Places programme in Hounslow has been running for over ten years with a vision to build a confident, colourful and creative Hounslow,
Watermans is a social enterprise and holder of the Social Enterprise Mark. This means that any money we make is ploughed back into providing events and opportunities to take part for the whole community.
