What is this service?

We inspire women through experiences, knowledge and skills. These are passed down through generations and continually updated to reflect the lives of women today.

The WI is everything you want it to be

Whatever your reason for joining, we offer all kinds of opportunities to all kinds of women.

For some, it’s a chance to meet people and catch up with friends. For others, it’s a way to learn valuable life skills and make a difference in their communities through WI campaigns.

The WI is what you make of it

WIs come in all shapes and sizes and our members can be involved in the way that suits them.

This can mean joining a local WI or setting up a new group with other like-minded women. Others may prefer to be Associate members with the opportunity for local WI involvement.

Membership options

Whether you want to join a WI, start a new one or become an associate member, you can get involved in a way that suits you. See the member benefits here.

WI membership

WI membership is for any woman who wants to join her local WI group and regularly attend meetings. These can be a mixture of virtual as well as physical meetings. Each WI is unique and will be happy to discuss their WI’s benefits and calendar of events with prospective members. Find out more about our different types of WIs by checking out our WI Profiles.

Dual membership

If you already belong to a WI and discover another WI that you would also like to join, you can do so as a dual member.

Associate membership

Are you unable to attend regular meetings at your local WI? Would you still like to become a member of the largest women’s organisation in the UK? **Then join as an associate! **Find out more and sign up online today.

Start a new WI

If there isn’t already a WI in your area or you’re looking to begin something completely new, why not start your very own brand new WI? All you need is a group of interested women, three of whom are willing to take on the roles of President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Contact your federation office to find out how to start a WI. They will put you in touch with a WI Adviser, a specially trained volunteer, who will be able to guide you through the process.
