Section Leader's Report

This year has been a very successful one for Intrepid ESU. Our membership has increased dramatically, with weekly meetings now regularly attended by up to 20 young people.

Our ongoing partnership with Summit ESU has allowed us to offer a more diverse programme, thanks to the knowledge and experience of their leadership team. This has included such things as Geocaching, Ready Steady Cook, Axe and Saw, Car Maintenance, Human Rights, Laser Quest, Wide games, Science night and filming our own version of the Harlem Shake!

We also had a full boating programme this year, regularly taking both gigs and kayaks onto the water.   Following our success this year, we are pleased to announce that sometime in the future we will be formally merging the two units and look forward to offering even more variety and quality programming to our young people

Activity badges

Many of the badges available are activity badges, which represent the pinnacle of achievement in a particular field. Whether their interests lie in Hill Walking or Performing Arts, Aviation or Public Relations, Explorers are rewarded both for developing existing strengths and undertaking new ventures.

Additional badges and awards

In addition, there are a number of extra badges and awards, obtained by taking part in particular challenges or schemes.

Core badges

There are a number of core badges, obtained upon joining or moving on from the Unit, or for time spent in the Scouting movement.
