What is this service?

The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association is able to offer some financial support to help with:

  • emergency funding while staying at home during the coronavirus outbreak

  • funding equipment and services that people with MND have been assessed as needing

  • funding for children and young people living with someone with MND

  • non-paid carers supporting someone living with MND

  • improving quality of life for someone living with MND

Types of Grant

  • Coronavirus Emergency Grant of up to £250

  • MND Support Grant (Care) grant of up to £1500 requires a health and social care professional assessment and must be processed by Support Services at FCH.

  • Quality of Life (QoL) grant of up to £500 can be funded by the branch or groups.

  • Carer’s and Young Carer’s grant (age 16 or over) of up to £500 in any 12-month rolling period can be funded.

  • Children and Young Person’s (CYP) (age 18 or under) of up to £250 in any 12- month rolling period can be funded. A child or young person must reside with a person living with MND or their parent/guardian has MND.

  • Communication Aids (incl voice banking) grant (amount dependant on application) requires a health and social care professional assessment and must be processed by FCH. www.mndassociation.org/support-and-information/our-services/communication-aidsservice/

Guidance about benefits during lockdown

The Association's Benefits Advice Service can offer guidance about benefits during the lockdown. The team of qualified advisers can provide support by phone and e-mail in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Web chat is also available in England and Wales. A telephone interpreter can be arranged at a set time if a language other than English is required.
