Hounslow Greentalk is an online service that highlights the green spaces and all the trees in public areas throughout the borough of Hounslow.
For the first time ever you can explore the trees of Hounslow. Visit the interactive map, and click on individual dots to learn more about the trees all around us.
As well as finding out about the tree species, of which there are over 350 in Hounslow, you can discover fascinating details about the whole urban forest, like which trees are the rarest, which are the most common, and where the biggest and oldest trees can be found. Greentalk will even tell you which trees are the most valuable!
After you’ve found out about all the trees near you, why not go on a walk to find them for yourself? You can enter an address in the ‘Create a Green Walk’ box on the home page, or click the ‘Create a walk’ button on any tree you like the look of. Then choose if you want to take a ‘circular walk’, or get from ‘A to B’. Greentalk will then generate a unique route for you taking in a selection of local trees.
We’ve got a host of exciting and very cool features such as being able to like and comment on individual trees, and send us feedback about them.
You’ll also have the opportunity to adopt young trees too, as part of the fight against climate change. . This is really important in the spring and summer, when newly-planted street trees especially need all the help they can get, particularly when it comes to watering them in hot weather.
A greener borough benefits people and the environment, providing homes for wildlife and helping to absorb pollution. Trees are vital to this strategy, as the biggest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil and give life to the world's wildlife.
I am extremely grateful and will be planting my new tree when I can get good soil for her this month
