Meeting for Worship at the Meeting House
Brentford and Isleworth Quaker Meeting House is open for Meeting for Worship on Sundays from 10.30 to 11:30am. All are welcome, whether you are a visitor from another meeting or entirely unfamiliar with Quakerism.
Afterwards, Friends usually stay for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat, and there are occasional socials too (including shared lunches, gardening, and film screenings.)
If you have any questions, the doorkeeper will meet you on arrival and answer any queries.
You are also welcome to join us online via Zoom - please get in touch for instructions on how to join.
Children's Meetings
Children are very welcome at Quaker Meetings. They join the Meeting for Worship with the adults for part of the time but otherwise have their own activities. Currently, our children's group meets on the first and third Sunday of the month during school term time. Activities might involve arts and crafts, stories or plays, or games. The focus might be on ourselves, the world about us, caring for others, or aspects of the Quaker testimonies to simplicity, equality, truth and peace. Periodically an all-age Meeting for Worship might be held, based on a theme.
The meeting has a safeguarding policy and all members who are involved with the children regularly are DBS checked. Please let us know if you would like to bring children to Meeting so we can be ready to welcome them. For more information about bringing children to Meeting please read our Info for Parents and Carers.
About Quaker Worship
Worship is at the heart of what it means to be Quaker. Meeting for Worship brings us together in stillness. The silence may be broken if someone present feels called to say something that will deepen and enrich the worship. Anyone is free to speak, pray or read aloud if they feel strongly led to do so. This breaks the silence for a few minutes but does not interrupt it. In the quietness of the Meeting, we can become aware of a deep and powerful spirit of love and truth, transcending our ordinary day-to-day experiences.
