TAL Youth Wing (TAL YOUWI)

TAL Youth wing is an offshoot of the TAL, formed to cater to Telugu speaking youth in the United Kingdom. After serving Telugu Community for more than a decade, TAL has initiated a dedicated arm for third generation Telugu speaking University goers and youth.

What is this service?

OBJECTIVES

  • Preserve, maintain and carry forward the cultural heritage of Telugu Community in the UK to next generations.

  • Promote and propagate Telugu language and culture among the Youth.

  • Encourage and facilitate to follow the Telugu customs, traditions and values. Foster friendship and understanding among Telugus and promote unity among the community.

  • Promote TAL objectives, collaborate all aspects including but not limited to encourage Telugu literary, cultural and educational conferences, seminars in the UK and other countries. Provide assistance in all TAL events.

  • Promote TAL motto “Unite, Cherish and Share Telugu Culture”

  • Affiliate and cooperate with other associations or societies having similar objectives.

  • To stimulate imaginative and progressive thinking in the arts, and to act as a consistent forum for innovative, experimental and new artistic endeavour to enrich our art and literary forms.

EVENTS

  • TAL Youth participates in all major events organised by TAL like Ugadi, Children’s day etc and participate in TAL suggested events organised by other organisations such as The Diwali in London (DiL) to demonstrate unity in diversity of Indian diaspora.

  • TAL Youth is active via a dedicated FB page and takes part or organise gatherings especially Telugu Youth.

CULTURE

  • Many young students learn Telugu, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Karnatac music and Bollywood dances through TCCs at both West and East London.

SPORTS

  • The TAL sports calendar generally starts in Spring with badminton championships in Feb/March followed by summer with three months of TAL Premier League T20 cricket and fishes in Winter with Volleyball, 6 a side football. Many young talented people compete in these sports. Each year TAL felicitates a skilled youth with “Upcoming Talent” award.
