Ascent is a partnership within the London Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) consortium delivering a range of services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and abuse. The London VAWG Consortium works to end violence against women and girls. It is made up of 29 organisations.

What is this service?

EACH delivers specialist counselling and group support for women and girls under Ascent. Sexual and domestic violence and abuse can take many forms. It can be…

  • Physical – hitting, punching, slapping

  • Sexual – rape, abuse, assault

  • Emotional and psychological – putting you down, verbal aggression, coercion

  • Social isolation - stopping you from seeing your friends and family

  • Financial – keeping your money from you, not allowing you to work

  • **‘Honour’ based violence **- crimes or incidents committed to protect or defend the 'honour' of the family or community

  • Forcing you to marry someone without your consent

  • Female genital mutilation (FGM) - a cultural practice which causes harm and injury to female sexual health
