The private rented sector has more than doubled since we were established and is now home to more low-income families with children than social housing, yet we remain the only organisation in the country offering specialist legal advice and representation which is dedicated to private renters.
The housing crisis has deepened, denying access to social housing to all but a few of those who could benefit from it, and at the same time, other support for vulnerable renters has declined year on year. As a result we have witnessed the growing oppression of renters and lack of belief that things could change for the better.
We believe that housing plays a crucial role which goes beyond shelter, important as this is. A home forms the bedrock for building fulfilling lives. To do so, a home must provide long-term security of tenure; it must be decent, affordable, of an appropriate size and in an appropriate area to meet the needs of each household and contribute to their aspirations.
Advice for Renters want to play a full role in helping renters, both individually and collectively towards that better life.
I cannot thank you enough – I speak from the heart when I say that you made me feel someone was really listening to me and you have helped me so much
