service
Action West London works with local authorities and local communities to identify individuals and families who could benefit from advice and support to help them secure employment and get back into work.
LEAH offers free English lessons to Hounslow residents who cannot access college. We enable clients to learn English, gain confidence, develop support networks and access services through knowledge and understanding, as well as integrating into their local community.

LEAH clients are paired with a trained LEAH volunteer tutor to support them with their English, learn about vital local services and support integration into local communities. LEAH’s 1:1 service is for clients who cannot access college courses because of health reasons, caring responsibilities, past trauma or their limited levels of English.
Most clients are referred from partner organisations including health visitors, social workers, teachers, GPs and other small local groups, but if you know someone who is isolated and could benefit from one to one support please contact us and we will try to help.
Zoom classes (weekly): Beginners to intermediate level
In-person beginner class (weekly): Heston (Weds)
We run small group English classes for clients to progress from our 1:1 service and for clients who may be more confident to learn in a group setting. Our classes focus on health and wellbeing, on developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and we also offer support to enable clients to help their children learn at school. We focus on building confidence, developing language skills, progression and integration. Priority is given to clients who would not be able to join a college course because they may have caring responsibilities, have young children, health difficulties or complex backgrounds.
LEAH classes are a stepping stone to progressing onto other community learning, college, volunteering or employment.
We take professional referrals for our community classes (for those who are isolated and could benefit from learning in a class) - Sign up — LEAH
When I come to England I am lonely and miss my family. Now I speak English, talk to people and I am happy.
