Is There A Young Person In Your Family Struggling With Their Mental Wellbeing? We Are Running Workshops In Nature To Support Both The Young Person And Their Parent/Carer.

Coronavirus has changed life for us all. Anxiety and the disruption to daily life will be even more difficult to deal with for those who already struggle with mental health. In turn, the pressure on parent/carers, who are dealing with their own disruptions and worries, now also have increased concerns for those that they care for. We would like to help.
Our workshops include time walking in nature, discovering the natural world, and then time doing creative activities – painting, weaving, lino-cutting, nature mandalas, while having a chat over a hot drink.
The role parents and carers play is crucial in supporting young people with mental ill-health. By supporting parent/carers wellbeing and improving empathy and communication within families, parent/carers can in turn help their young person to recover.

The service involves Age UK Hounslow volunteers who have been recruited, inducted and trained to speak to elderly and vulnerable residents at home. We aim to match a volunteer, called a `Befriender’ to the resident taking on board language issues / interests etc where possible.
