What is this service?

The Group was originally known as Hounslow COPD Support Group and during 2019 its members voted unanimously to change its name so that it had borough-wide recognition of its purpose.

In 2014, when the group under its previous name was formed, it was to provide peer support to residents of Hounslow who had been diagnosed with COPD. In 2015 this was extended to anyone who had been diagnosed with a long term respiratory condition.

Building on our success over the last 2-3 years we have now extended membership to Hounslow Borough residents who have been diagnosed with a long-term medical condition such as Diabetes and they are welcomed to join us as Associate Members. We recognise that many residents suffer from isolation, loneliness and low general wellbeing, therefore, opening up our membership will allow us to provide a service to a greater number of Hounslow residents.

Meetings Our monthly general meetings are currently held face-to-face and feature a speaker on a topic of interest to our members. The session then gives the opportunity to the members to socialise.

Outings We are currently planning events for 2022 as we fully realise that promoting social interaction plays a vital part in our member’s wellbeing.

Gym We currently offer exercise classes on 3 days per week with a qualified trainer.

Membership We have Full, Associate, Gym only and Honorary membership. For every Full & Gym member, their nominated partner automatically becomes an Honorary member.

The idea of Talk Club to get blokes to start small talking groups with your mates. Man time. You're not doing this because anything is wrong. In fact the complete opposite it's all about keeping mentally fit. Please remember that this is a talking group and not a therapy group.
