service
Some conditions require specialist care. At Bluebird Care we understand that when people have special needs due to an illness or injury, they may need extra care and support.
Shared Lives is an established programme that is transforming lives as an alternative to supported living or residential care. The scheme matches adults requiring support with approved paid carers. Hounslow Council is currently recruiting carers to offer this valuable and worthwhile service.

The Shared Lives approach provides a safe family environment that can build long lasting connections and richer communities.
The person may live with the carer, visit them regularly, or a combination of both.
Shared Lives is registered with the CQC (Care Quality Commission).
Shared Lives provides for a range of needs, and offers support for adults with:
learning disabilities
mental health issues
physical disabilities
age-related conditions like dementia
Placements can be long or short-term, day, or respite, providing a level of care that goes beyond the boundaries of conventional support services.
Shared Lives is a caring, human approach that can:
nurture long-term connections
build emotional wellbeing
create a genuine sense of belonging
The matching process makes sure Shared Lives is right for both the supported person and the carer. The care and consideration taken at this stage is crucial to a successful placement.
We will consider things like:
the type of support required
skills the carer already has
any shared interests between the carer and supported person
Shared Lives provides a service in your home to someone who requires support to live independently.
This type of support could include helping the person to:
enjoy social activities and meet new people
enjoy their favourite hobbies
learn new skills
keep healthy and active
access the community
manage their money
share jobs like cooking, cleaning or gardening
Shared Lives carers have the potential to earn between £400 and £500 a week, depending on the needs of the person needing support.
