LEAH provides 1:1 English lessons to refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and we need more volunteer tutors to help support our students across the borough.

Could you offer a couple of hours a week to support someone learn English?
Where:
Teaching takes place across the Hounslow borough - often in the student's home or a suitable community location. Lessons can be online as well if you'd prefer.
When:
Lessons (for up to an hour) take place between Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm. You can choose a day and time that is convenient for you.
Skills needed:
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Patience to support our students who have a diverse range of educational backgrounds
• Previous experience in ESOL tutoring or teaching can be an advantage but is not required as full training is provided
Training:
LEAH runs six training courses a year (Feb, June, Sept and November)
The course is six weekly sessions (each session is between 2 and 2.5 hour
The course covers an introduction to the organisation as well as looking at how you structure and deliver lessons covering the 4 key areas – speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Once you start tutoring, regular ongoing support for volunteers will be provided by our experienced coordinator team.

Our Moses Baskets provide a bed for the baby to sleep in and are packed full of toiletries - nappies, wipes, maternity pads, etc., as well as blankets, towels and baby clothes for vulnerable groups such as teenage mums, asylum seekers, and women fleeing domestic violence and trafficking
